Friday Randoms

A pedestrian caught in my shot at the Church of St. Jerome in Taos.

Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me and some new findings are shedding light on the origins of the population.

I will admit to a love of this store.

I will take a double scoop of the #1 pick, please.  What about you?

Leaving you with an old, classic Johnny Cash tune.
Have a good one!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this week that my family could get away for a few days and spend some time together.  The young man of the house had unexpectedly started a new job, a week before our departure.  Though this trip had been planed for months, it was unclear if he would be able to go.

Plans fell into place, we departed on schedule, and time was spent together, even if we drove each other crazy now and again.

What are you thankful for today?
Let me know!

A Whirlwind of New Mexico

Last week we made all types of preparations for cows, birds, dogs, plants, flowers, and farm items to be cared for in our absence.  I would like to say we can just dash about on our travels, but it takes quite a bit of prep just to leave for a few days.

We all hopped on a plane and headed out to New Mexico for a few days of culture, sight seeing, rock climbing, rafting, hiking, and a lot of eating.  Oh, and I can say, as the collector of Native American Jewelry, I did a bit of shopping.

Our first stop was Sante Fe, New Mexico.

The lady above is an experienced native.  She is dressed for the bright sun.  Us, not so much as we didn't look as chic as she did, but we got by just the same.

The brightness of the culture only has competition from the brightness of the sun.  Vivid colors, ideas, and artwork were everywhere.

I loved all of it.

In the Santa Fe Plaza, these Native American vendors sell their handmade jewelry and crafts.   Most items are signed and made with delicate care and detail.  Yes, I did come away with a couple of items.

Sadly this lady would not fit in my suitcase.

There are more tales to tell and more photos to share.  We also made it to Taos, Los Alamos, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

We arrived home in the wee hours of Sunday morning.  Our English Pointer decided to mark our arrival by rolling on a dead groundhog and dashing into the house.

What a greeting.

Good times

Happy Father's Day

After a whirlwind week of travel, I made it back just in time to wish this guy a Happy Father's Day.  Texting, phone calls, and visits, keep us in touch most days.  Growing up, he was at work or traveling for work, but as an adult I have been able to understand him as the true person he is.  What a valuable thing that has been.

Blue Skies

It's a softball kind of Sunday around these parts.  A few games this afternoon to fill our time.  The week ahead will be full of family adventures, new places to see and new things to experience.  Thus, I will be on hiatus until the same time next Sunday.

Same bat time, same bat channel.

Friday Randoms

Just a view from the weeds flowers.

It's too bad that seed packets don't look like this anymore.

I freely admit that I have one of these in my home and have for years.

A few photos from the week.

Leaving you with some Iron Horse for the weekend,

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for the unseen cheerleader.  You know those friends you rarely see, but who remain in the background pushing you forward in life?  I have one of those in Ms. E.  This card arrived in the mail last week.  Inside were kind, inspiring words and some flower seeds.  For me, this is the kind of thing that helps keep me motivated and , as my dad would say, pressing on.

What are you thankful for today?
Shout it out!
